part 2. the traits of the «rottweil butcher's dog» use by humans
Due to the profitable location Rottweil grows fast and becomes the large cattle selling center. Trading success led to the independence declaration in the VIII century. There were usual cattle fairs and that was natural to use large amount of dogs. Rottweiler's work was very hard: to round up and guard the cattle, to keep order in the herd and to tame the furious bulls; to follow the master in a lonely and dangerous way and to guard his assets.
Rottweiler easily became the favorite dog of cattle traders who used the rottweilers for their butcheries guard. Butchers attachment to the rottweilers was the purpose for the other breed name setting up; the «German butcher's dog» had been the official rottweilers name synonym. Dog keepers trust was so great that they hung the purse with the money on the dog neck before they celebrated a good deal in a pub and no one would take the purse of gold. It was natural because the power, malice and fighter qualities demands were so strict that they had to be such to go through the centuries. Merchants, dairymen and brewers also harnessed Rottweiler to their carriages. The Neccar banks were the place the Rottweil butcher's dogs came to the further lands from. As Hans Korn said, «rottweilers brought out far from their Swabian homeland not only the name of their genesis place which became their own name, but also high reputation of their eligibility and glory of their owners».
It's well known that the dog breeds evolution goes collaterally the cultural and economic human activities. The railroad development deprived the rottweilers cattle driving work. The dogs population was cut. By the 1900 the breed was hardly existing. Although the butchery had been saving the traditions and keeping the rottweilers the amount of dogs had been decreasing. By the XX century it achieved the critical point.
Only after the detailed rottweiler ancillary qualities examination the breeding had been increased. The impulse for that was the case which had been resounded all over Germany. In Hamburg, 1910, the city police head Hans Kruher used the rottweiler–dog to dissipate the drunk sailors. The specialists paid attention to the power and reliability of this breed. There was inbreeding improvement and the use area extension work. In 1910 the German police officially tried the breed for the law and order protection and declared the rottweiler the police dog in a row with a Shepherd dog and Doberman Pinscher and now the rottweiler is the general police dog in the mast Western countries. It was the police service work success that as M. Andreeva said, was the base of the rottweilers breed renaissance and the popularity grow.
The other hand, the dog–fanciers evaluated the physical and psychical rottweilers qualities that predetermined the ancillary and guardian dog role for the rottweiler. Anyway the rottweiler is popular there the distinct character qualities rather than the appearance, elegance and grotesque shaping are valuable.
