ADRK (Allgemeiner Deutscher Rottweiler-Klub (ADRK) e.V. — All-German Rottweiler Club) has been founded by alliance of leading rottweiler-clubs 14th August, 1921 though officially the date of foundation is 1907. ADRK is considered by right to be the most authoritative rottweiler-club in the world. This abbreviation is also used for the German standard of the rottweiler breed.

AKC (American Kennel Club) — National American Kennel Club, FCI member. This abbreviation is also used for the American standard of the rottweiler breed.

ANKC (Australian National Kennel Council) — National Australian Kennel Club, FCI member. This abbreviation is also used for the Australian standard of the rottweiler breed.

ARC (American Rottweiler Club) — National American Rottweiler Club.

ARV (American Rottweiler Verein) — American organization similar to the ADRK of Germany. Both the ADRK and the International Canine Federation (FCI) use the same internationally recognized standard describing the ideal Rottweiler.

Besitzer (B) (Germ.) — owner.

BIG — show title «Best In Group».

BIS — show title «Best In Show».

CKC (Canadian Kennel Club / Club Canin Canadien) — National Canadian Kennel Club, FCI member. This abbreviation is also used for the Canadian standard of the rottweiler breed.

CW — show title «Class Winner».

DR (in Germ.) — Der Rottweiler.

DRK (Deutscher Rottweiler-Klub) is founded 13th January, 1907, later (1921) entered ADRK.

ED — Elbow dysplasia; has four degrees: ED- (free), ED+, ED++, ED+++.

FCIFederation Cynologique Internationale (International Canine Federation) — International cynologic Federation (headquarter in Belgium); for now is one of the largest international cynologists' organizations, regulates the activity of the federations of participants, establishes the breed standards, etc.

FH (Fährtenhundprüfung) — «Advanced tracking dog» — German training of tracking or searching dog; has three classes.

HDHip dysplasia — fault of development of hip joint: joint fossula doesn't match whirlbone (Lefler); has five degrees: HD- (FCI: A 1|2) — free, HD+/- (FCI: B 1|2), HD+ (FCI: C 1|2), HD++ (FCI: D 1|2), HD+++ (FCI: E 1|2).

Hundin (H) (Germ.) — female.

IFR (Internationale Föderation für Rottweiler-Freunde) — International organization of Rottweiler's Friends; was founded in Germany (1960), first congress had happened in Essen in May, 1960. IFR program goal is creating conditions for meetings, exchange of experience, ideas and knowledge between Rottweilers' friends all over the world.

IPO (Vielseitigkeitsprufung für Gebrauchshunde nach internat. Prufungsordnung) — International training of guard with obedience and tracking work; has three classes (Class I; II, III); similar to Schutzhundeprüfung.

IRK (Internationaler Rottweiler-Klub) is founded 26th April, 1907, later (1921) had entered to ADRK.

K-9 («Police Dog») — American training course for service dogs for police, enforcements, safety and security, etc.

Klubsiegerzuchtschau ADRK — Main exhibition (dog show) of Rottweiler breed in Germany; is held since 1971 up to nowadays.

Korung (Körung in Germ.) is a breeders selection test in Germany since 1942; since January, 1944 only litters from breeders which had succesfully passed korung are registered; this is necessary for keeping and storing exactly working qualities in the breed. Korung aims nervous system check for strength — this strict character check is to exclude dogs with weak fighting instincts. Only actually firm rottweiler with apparent fighting instinct can pass this test. Merely guardian qualities aren't sufficient — only bitches and males with no signs of diffidess and nervosity — what requires «iron nerves» – pass this test. Test results are valid for 3 years, then re-affirmance is required. Bitches which had passed korung shall be bred with males which have the same diploma. If dog fails test he or she is excluded from the Stud book and their litters aren't registered. To pass korung dog shall go through IPO training course. Males younger than 18 months and older than 8 years aren't let to breed. The same rule is applied to bitches younger than 18 months and older than 7 years.


RCC (Rottweiler Club of Canada) — National Canadian Rottweiler Club.

R.CW — show title «Reserve Class Winner».

Rottweil is a town in South Germany where rottweiler breed — «Rottweil butcher's dog» («Rottweiler Metzgerhund») had been formed by Middle Ages.

Rude (R) (Germ.) — male.

RW (Rottweiler) — rottweiler (breed).

SchH (Schutzhundeprüfung) — «Protection Dog»  — Training course created in 20-s in Germany is pointed towards the training of the guardian dog. Main goal of SchH is absolute obedience and achieving of desirable behavior of the dog in critical situations; national German training system.

UKKC (The United Kingdom Kennel Club) — National British Kennel Club, FCI member. This abbreviation is also used for the British standard of the rottweiler breed.

VDH (Verband für das deutsche Hundewesen (VDH) e.V.) — German society of dog owners (German Kennel Club); leading german national federation of cynologists, FCI member.
