place and care
Keeping and care of puppy is almost the same as for adult dog with difference in better watch, more thorough care and delicate treatment. From the first day in the house the puppy need special place for rest. In the city conditions puppy lives and grows in a flat. However if the dog is to guard the yard of the country house, cottage in suburbs or summerhouse then accustom the puppy to outdoor keeping. Unleashed keeping on the backyard in the weatherproof doghouse is very good for puppy's health atmosphere impacts temper the growing organism, activating metabolism.

If the puppy is born in winter, keep him or her indoor till the warm season, and after the puppy will grow and improve in strength you may move him or her outdoor. If the puppy is to live in the flat, then find a constant place for him or her with a broad daylight, far from radiators and other heaters. Don't place the puppy in the kitchen, hallway or bathroom.

Avoid draughts. Puppy shall have the bed it may be carpet, mattress, or old blanket folded into four. Better make a change of slips for the bed. After the place for the puppy is chosen, you will need to accustom the puppy to his or her place: after feeding the puppy and letting him or her to walk a little, then softly put him or her to bed, repeating «Kennel», «Kennel», stroking and calming down the dog. If he or she tries to stand up, hold him, repeating more firmly «Kennel». Do that till the puppy stays at the place at least for several minutes. To give the home smell of mother, brothers and sisters to the new place, bring the bit of old bed from the previous owner's house. This smell will calm down your puppy in loneliness of the first days.

In a first night on the new place the puppy will whine, walking around the room, falling asleep in different places. Patiently put him or her to his or her place so that he or she always awake there.

If you place the dog on the yard with enclosed space for walks and weatherproof doghouse, it will be easy to accustom him or her to the place. Feed the dog near the kennel, never bother him or her while he or she rests inside.

To toilet-train the puppy, the owner shall be very patient. Small puppies can't hold the call of nature till the walk as adult dogs do. The procedure is performed instant that the bladder and bowels become full. However even just bought month-age puppy is to be brought outside. Do that 45 times a day to make him or her to get used to defecate outdoor.

At the first puddles and dung will be everywhere on the floor. Promptly clean them so that its' presence wouldn't frame a stereotype of the «loo» the view and the smell of dung and urine will call the reflex of the defecation and urination exactly in that place on the floor which will be determined as a «loo». Don't punish the puppy or roar at, or nuzzle him or her. When he or she starts to look for the place to do his or her duty, promptly bring him or her outdoor. After that praise the puppy and bring him or her back. Usually the reflex to yelp and hang near the entry door calling the master to bring him or her out is fixed by 45-month age.

Walk with puppy more often than with adult dog. After the feeding bring the puppy outside for approximately 10 minutes. When the puppy's doings are done, praise him or her. After walk examine the dog and clean. Clean the puppy very carefully to avoid scrapes and frighten. Before examining thoroughly dry the paws with a cloth. In wet weather when legs and belly are dirty, wash them in warm water and dry with a clean cloth.

Important! Fully wash the puppy as seldom as possible only when he or she all is very dirty. Use warm soap water (dissolve soap in water), then thoroughly rinse by warm clean water. Soap water mustn't get into eyes and ears. After finishing the washing dry the puppy with clean cloth. In summer after washing let the puppy to shake off the water and then lead him or her on leash to fasten the dry and avoid the pollution.

Important! After the puppy had appeared in the house promptly perform the dehelmintization. Puppy's helminthes are transferred prenatal and aren't dangerous for humans, but are very harmful for the puppy. After the dehelmintization take the puppy's dung to the closest veterinary watch to check for helminthes.

Important! Remember, that the most prevalent dogs' infection is canine distemper in neural, enteric, pneumonic and dermal forms. The most susceptible to distemper are the 37-month age puppies, but the infection may take weak, ill nourished adult dogs. The disease leads to lethal outcome or complications like hyperkinesias of different parts of body or the paralysis of the endings.

Important! To render the dog safe from infection, vaccinate in 1,52-month age first and then in 3-month age. In the ensuing years revaccinate the dog annually after the 5year age when the risk of infection is appreciably lower. It's also important to avoid the contacts with the ownerless dogs.
