initial training

On this stage it's necessary to consider the age specific. Since 2 month till year the dog is on the stage of the most perception of external signs. But 2—2,5–month puppy is being easily tired and may be annoyed by training. Famous British trainer John Holmes recommends to do not repeat many first commands more than three–four times at once. On this step it will be enough to have 5–minute trainings a day — the time may be increased in four–five month age depending to the grade of the psychical and physical developing of the puppy. The worst mistake is to make puppy to afraid the training. It's very important to praise the puppy for every correctly performed action: to please the master puppy will every time perform the task with enthusiasm.

Important! It's very important to avoid any punishment – it's very important to let the puppy feel your interest and patient attention, to harness his yeasty energy. Each puppy is to be strictly individualized because they all are different in behavior, age specific and inheritance. During the education keep in mind that it's necessary to demand level to the puppy's age. Don't try to make them strictly perform the commands, don't repeat too much, because puppies can't do too much and may get stale. If you see apathy, disinterest in work, let the break for 4—5 minutes, let the puppy walk and run, and after then continue the training; if puppy is fully tired, stop the training at all.

Don't command indefinitely or too quietly, because puppy may ignore such commands. If puppy abstracts from training (sniffs or watches something), attract his attention: before you command say his or her name or command more loudly than usually.

If puppy knows the command well, then you quietly but insistently demand it's performance, even conditional. Otherwise the puppy and later adult dog will see that commands may be ignored. So since the very early age insist on full and complete obedience. Approximately from the 2-month age accustom the puppy to leash, using play and walk. At the same period it's right to add the command «No!» which is to be confirmed by mechanical action — pulling the leash. Working out the «No!» command keep in mind that it shan't be used with no reasons.

Puppy shall see at once why this command had been given and what action shall be ceased. Necessarily insist on this command performing, repeating it with aggressive tone and following it by stronger and more feelable physical action. It's very important to command at the same time with the wrongdoing, not after. Don't overuse the «No!» command without special purpose, but also don't let the puppy to forget it. To avoid that it's recommended to provoke the puppy sometimes for wrongdoing, and at the moment call him or her down by the sharp command and pulling the leash. It's especially easy to do when the puppy finds waste-food on the ground. When the puppy tries to catch the waste, command «No!» betimes, appreciably striking his or her croup by whip.

Puppy shall take easy strangers including neighbors and acquaintances, without special interest and, furthermore, malignity or fright. So don't let strangers to pet, feed, tease or frighten the puppy, or play with him or her. At the same time support and praise all useful service natural behavior, for example, alertness and modest not too long bark when the strangers open the door or yard-gate. And don't let the bark as act of malignity when meeting strangers at home, on the yard or outdoors. If the puppy is overexcited near the strangers, call him or her and calm down. If the puppy tries to contact the strangers, fawns on them, try to attract the pet, if failed ask the person to slap the puppy's back when he or she comes. As John Holmes says, all you need on this stage is to train the dog to be glad to communicate with you, so that the consummate happiness for him or her would be to perform your wishes.

Only with full understanding with growing puppy, you may complicate the training, moving to learn other training elements, using common methods.
